Fall is finally here - the days are shorter and the nights are much chillier!  Customers are stopping in with news that they have seen their first juncos and white-throated sparrows.  I have heard but not seen the white-throated sparrows.  I often wonder if they learn their sweet lonely song (poor Sam Peabody Peabody Peabody) when they arrive since I usually hear only part of the song (usually the first part - poor Sam) upon their arrival - like they are trying to remember it.  Later in the winter, they seem to "get it all". 

Thank you all for supporting our annual Fall Feeder Wash Event in October.  The picture shows about half of the happy sparkling feeders that we cleaned! We had a goal of 60 feeders but actually washed 92 - a record washing for us!  We also had one hopper feeder from Dr. Liz that we called a Bed & Breakfast - wrens had nested in it!  Dr. Liz B & BWe were also able to write a check to PetPals from the net proceeds from this effort.  This event also inspired a new web page on our website - "Are You a Responsible Bird Feeder?"  Check it out! 

We also had a very successful bird food sale in October and we extend a big thank you for those who have joined "the club" - The Daily Savings Club (DSC).  What is the DSC you ask?

Well, You have spoken:  It takes too long to earn our FREE 20# bag of bird seed!

And we have listened:  We are now retiring the Frequent Seed Shopper Card and are introducing a new savings program - The Daily Savings Club!  For an annual $25 membership fee, you will receive a DAILY savings of 15% off of bird food items.  There are also many, many more benefits to joining "The Club" - just ask us or visit our site section entitled "Daily Savings Club"!

More on the retirement of the Frequent Seed Shopper Card Program:  Starting November 1, 2009, we will begin to retire the Frequent Seed Shopper Cards.  Cards will be "reimbursed" on a prorated basis for most seed blend types through December 31, 2009.  Reimbursements will not be made after December 31, 2009.

It's hard to believe that next month will be the last month of our pin give-away promotion!  Already, customers are talking about their "collection".  In December we will have all of our monthly bird pins available if you missed one and want to complete your set (only $5.49 if purchased).  These make great "thinking of you" holiday gifts too!
